Welcome to Geoff Stone Forestry Ltd
The quality you deserve
What are we?
Geoff Stone Forestry Ltd is a Scottish registered Company, gangmaster licensed, formed in March 2005 by Geoff Stone, a fully qualified Forester with a BSc in Forestry and Conservation.
Who are we?
we only employ the skills of locally sourced labour, fully trained, qualified and experienced in every task we take on.
Each operator knows the standards of work required by Geoff Stone Forestry Ltd, and no compromise on quality is acceptable. I expect a good job to be paid for upon satisfactory completion, and this cannot be expected if the work is not finished or done poorly. All of our operators know this is key to maintaining our reputation and ensuring work continues to flow in.
What We Provide
Geoff Stone Forestry Ltd was one of the first forestry companies in the Highlands to comply with new legislation requiring a Gangmaster licence. As a result we can offer tree planting, fertilizer application, rhododendron control, weeding and indeed many other operations, elements of which are deemed to come under the Act.
We also offer skilled operations covering forestry establishment such as chemical spraying, chainsaw operations including fell to recycle, multi-windblow, tree climbing, chainsaw from harness work, and arboricultural work.
Geoff Stone Forestry Ltd is currently operating contracts as competent contractor for FCS, Scottish Woodlands and the John Muir Trust.
We have operated on Skye and the west coast of Scotland for 10 years and are well used to the conditions and constraints of operating in adverse conditions.

Domestic Trees & Fencing
This section of the site is for those who have a tree threatening to squash their house, a tree that has out-grown its space, become infirm due to gales, or perhaps your evening entertainment is being spoiled due to grainy satellite tv images caused by tree branches.
Full £5m public liability insurance cover and long experience are key elements of working close to housing, sheds, boats, caravans, bt phone lines, power lines etc - GSF have both.
Good service is the name of the game and we undertake to answer your initial enquiry with a call, e-mail or talk face to face within 24hrs. Subsequent to initial contact, site visit and price agreement, we also undertake to start and complete the work within a mutually agreed time from shaking hands.
Geoff Stone Forestry have been eradicating invasive species of plants and shrubs along the west coast of Scotland for more than 10 years, using both existing and "new" methods. Sometimes using chemicals, sometimes without, but always with an open mind, and always with various angles of attack. GSF Ltd completed a 54ha, two year eradication program around Lews Castle, Stornoway and a major project at Duisdale Estates on Skye.
Commercial control of both rhododendron and Japanese Knotweed differs from domestic scenarios, as the scale of infestation is generally greater and time constaints mean methods must be tailored accordingly. Knotweed has tended to be a domestic problem, but is increasingly seen on verges along roads and passing places.
Geoff Stone Forestry provides a service to a range of clients across the west coast of Scotland from our base in Skye. From an initial enquiry from organisations such as local authorities, NHS Highland and Transport Scotland we are able to provide a project plan, cost analysis and time-frames depending on each scenario. With years of experience in supporting public bodies, businesses and individual we are able to provide a one-stop service for a range of projects from commercial forestry, vegetation control, stock, forest and domestic fencing. We will endeavour to respond to any enquiry within 24 hours and look forward to hearing from you.

What you said about us!
"Thanks very much Geoff for an excellent professional job removing the trees from the garden in Dornie. The work was carried out in less than 2 days with minimal disruption. All the tree sections were stacked neatly by the the fence as requested and the the branches chipped. Thanks also for all the advice regarding the rhododendrons etc., you certainly know your stuff. Mum and all of the family are delighted with the work and wouldn't hesitate in recommending you to anyone who needs similar work carried out in a safe a professional manner."
Colin Mackenzie, Dornie
Very pleased indeed with the work done by Geoff Stone Forestry Ltd. Great advice given and a huge amount of work completed neatly in only two days. Geoff was open to discussion and very much in tune with our requirements. Our very overgrown garden is now much more under control but still has a delightful natural look. Highly recommended!
All the best
Sheila and Iain Dick, Camuscross
"Hi Geoff, just a a quick note to thank you for your work for us a few weeks ago... I have a feeling I never got in touch to thank you. If I did you deserve to be thanked twice anyway. The five VERY large trees, all of which were too close for comfort to the house, you felled with consumate skill. Not a leaf broken on the surrounding shrubs, no fences crushed or damage to the house or outbuildings. Amazing! All done despite the weather, with good humour and a polite and positive 'can do' attitude. A special thanks to Alasdair for his skilled climbing and David for his constant hard graft. You are a lucky man to have them on board! Excellent job well done, and living proof of the old adage 'You get what you pay for'. Many thanks."
